Matt and Kate Restelli were at a breaking point. After seven years of marriage, Kate needed some time apart.

Kate took their two kids to her mom Tracey Grist’s house in Utah for a breather. Matt stayed home in California. He told his family he was using that time to work on himself. After three weeks apart, Matt and Kate were willing to talk.

In July 2024, Matt made the 10-hour drive from Temecula to his mother-in-law’s house in American Fork. He was hoping to bring his family home.

Instead, he barely made it through the front door…
