Privacy policy
Information we process
We process information you provide when creating an account, signing in, commenting or contacting us. Our servers may also receive technical data such as IP address, browser information, requested pages and security logs.
How information is used
Information is used to operate accounts and comments, protect the service, diagnose errors, measure first-party advertisement views and clicks, and respond to enquiries.
First-party ad click details
When an advertisement is clicked from an article, an administrator-only journal records the time, article, advertisement, IP address when available, approximate country supplied by a trusted proxy, referring domain and campaign labels. We do not add a new tracking cookie for this journal or store the full referring URL in it. An IP address or country does not identify a verified person or precise location.
Detailed click records use a default 30-day retention window; older details are excluded from reports and removed by scheduled maintenance. This retention window can be configured by the publication. Aggregate counts may be retained longer without IP addresses.
Sharing and external services
We do not claim ownership of third-party services linked from articles or advertisements. Those services process information under their own privacy policies. We may disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect users and the service.
Retention and choices
Information is retained only as long as needed for the purposes described above and applicable legal obligations. You may request access, correction or deletion by contacting the publication.
